Land commission boss angers lawyers

A group of lawyers subscribing to the Uganda law society have expressed concerned about the manner in which the Land probe Commission chairperson Justice Catherine Bamugemereire attacked the judicial courts especially those that deal with land matters.
Led by Counsel Peter Alan Musoke they argue that labeling some judges as corrupt and incompetent in the media by lady justice Bamugemereire is not a proper knowing the right procedure.
Musoke indicates that on 26th of October 2018 Justice Bamugemereire issued a statement recommending for an extensive and urgent review of all judgments issued on matters of land on grounds of corruption and incompetence.
He goes ahead to note that the land probe commission should always refer their concerns and challenges to the judicial commission and the president for redress to avoid conflicts.
Addressing the media in Kampala they argue that the land probe commission chair would instead write a report which points out the handles the judicial courts go through that include financial consequeces.
Musoke adds that the 12.5 billion shillings received by the judiciary this year to run its country wide operations is just a fraction of the 13 billion shillings received by the commission for its 6 months operations in specific areas.
