Museveni: Political blackmail killing corruption war
President Museveni tasks the commonwealth secretariat to rally against “Political blackmail” to which he attributes the rooting corruption among developing economies.
He says Some corrupt elements in leadership are untouchable; which threaten the war against corruption.
This together with Poor investigation arms, lacking prosecution and Weak adjudication, according to Museveni are worst impediments to a corruption free Society.
He was Opening the 9th Commonwealth conference of heads of anti graft agencies at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort Kigo in Wakiso District.
While there, President Museveni defended his move to create a statehouse anti corruption desk, saying it was not to duplicate the role if the inspectorate of government.
The President recently instituted the Lt Col Edith Nakalema led unit, which has since conducted operations, and the IGG is next on the list.
Mr Museveni who was officially opening the 9th Commonwealth conference of heads of anti graft agencies, says the move was meant to set a department to watch over other anti corruption organs of government to end the growing vice.
